Peter Garsden, who plays Sam Silver in Copacabana was asked by our producer that in order to be authentic, a complete head shave was necessary for the part of Sam.

Sam is follically challenged, wears a wig, and does not realise how ridiculous he looks. It sounded fine a few months ago, but as the real day dawned, nerves became frayed leading to the inevitable consequence that a shave was the only way forward.

Miles Daniel provided the hairdresser, thanks to Gladys, played by Jane Fontaigne. The Macclesfield Express duly arrived at 1pm, and the shave commenced. The dancing girls provided a beautiful backdrop for the picture and hopefully some publicity for the show.

The whole cast is being encouraged to raise money for a sponsored head shave in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.
