MMTG's Jack went with a swing

An all singing all dancing version of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk delighted audiences at the Evans Theatre in Wilmslow last month, when Macclesfield Majestic Theatre group presented their annual pantomime.

Produced by Shirley Davies, with musical direction from Heather Hayes-Wilson and choreography by Carolyn Farrish Mayer, a cast of more than fifty gave the performance their all.

The clown element was, as usual, captured magnificently by Dave McGuiness, as the Widow Gert, ably assisted by her son, Jack's brother, Archie, played by Steven Helliwell, and his girlfriend, Nellie, (Claire Mannion-Brown).

Jack (Colette Desborough) and Sally (Tessa Hart) provided the love interest, and dueted beautifully in numbers like "I Turn to You.", while the Lilac Fairy (Kyly Vernon) and other senior dancers were poetry in motion.

Outstanding, too, was the work done by the backstage team, who provided some magnificent backdrops.
